Letter To Future Me

Dear Future Mackenzie,            Today is June 3, 2020. I am fourteen years old at John Carroll High School. I am currently in all honors classes and working to be in the same next year. I'm really hoping we've made it somewhere we've dreamed of. Playing D1 lacrosse as a starting freshman at maybe an IVY league college. I'm currently looking Princeton, Brown, U PENN, maybe even Yale and Harvard. Other than the IVY league school I'm really only interested in east coast school, mainly because 1.) they know how to really play lacrosse and 2.) as crazy as it sounds, I don't think I can be that far away from my family, I mean I would like them to see my games (and not just on tv). I can't choose between astrophysics or forensic psychiatry to study, but I know once I take a physics or forensic science class I'll know my decision. High school

Having two older brothers that went to the same high school that I did is a big advantage. They have told me how to get out of things, how to deal with each teacher, and the struggle it is to juggle sports and school. I realized that what they told me about that is very true, I'm experiencing it right now. Walking into John Carroll playing multiple school sports and a club sport I knew it was going to be challenging, but I didn't think it was going to be this difficult. I woke up at 6:15, went to school till 2:45 without any mods off, went straight to volleyball practice for three hours and stayed an extra twenty minutes back to have a meeting with the coaches, went to lacrosse workouts and training for two hours, got home around 8:45, ate serial as dinner, and am now completing my homework. I am emotionally, physically, and mentally drained and its only the second day of school. But here I am at nine, eating funions, drinking coffee, and watching That 70's Show (all amazin...

agora -  a public open space used for assemblies and markets. The literal meaning of the word is "gathering place" or "assembly". The agora was the center of the athletic, artistic, spiritual and political life in the city. Early in Greek history  free-born citizens would gather in the agora for military duty or to hear statements of the ruling king or council. Later, the agora also served as a marketplace, where merchants kept stalls or shops to sell their goods. This attracted artisans who built workshops nearby.  polis-  a city state in ancient Greece, especially as considered in its ideal form for philosophical purposes. Polis literally means city in Greek. It can also mean a body of citizens.
